The Mornington Peninsula certainly turned on the best weather for wining, dining and walking for our Gourmet Weekend Getaway.
Welcome back to Tammy and Teddy you are certainly the most frequent of Bella’s guests. Hello to Gemimah, Jake, Chole, Toby and Evie – your first overnighter and boy did you fur-kids enjoy yourselves.
With some beach socialising for the paws and a glass of sparkling for the hoomans, it was time to kick off the weekend. Evie thought she would try the floor out until she got used to Bella – then she just got so excited when stopped and so wanted to be the first off every time, cheeky monkey! It was cosy watching the rain drizzle down on Bella while we slowly moved through Friday afternoon Melbourne traffic. As we arrived in Rye, the rain had magically disappeared and it was off for some more beach fun, while the set up team put the finishing touches on the Blue Moon Cottages.
We settled into an evening of Armadale Cellars wine tasting and an sumptuous array of food prepared by our own private chef, Glen from Freshwater Catering, complete with fire crackling in the background.
Chilled out Jake was so happy to have his personal corner rear the table – surely something will drop soon. Have a bit more wine Mum, you might get clumsy and drop one of the lamb cutlets. Tammy and Teddy decided they would watch from the other end of the table so all bases were covered.
Saturday morning started with wonderful sunshine as Madeline had predicted in her dream of getting sun burnt.
Toby and Chloe nestled into the trip to Flinders beach and were very excited to play on the beach with all their new friends. Teddy and Diesel certainly hogged the ball – so not like Diesel – NOT!
A very warm welcome from Nazaaray Estate for a wine tasting next to their roaring fire was a fabulous morning adventure, as was the ’52 point turn’ required to get Bella out of their driveway!
Four and two legged folks started their scenic 5km walk from Red Hill to Arthur Seat with the smells of fresh rain from the day before, combined with the tea-trees makes for great sniffing activity.
Angela, the talented pooch myotherapist joined us for a picnic lunch at Arthur Seat, so everyone could ask about the all important massages before we returned to the cottages. The pooches were happy to nap while waiting their turn for a massage, it had been a big day so far with lots of walking. Angela weaved her magic for each dog so they were in complete bliss. Sharon played fair Godmother to them afterwards whilst setting up for another evening of food and wine.
On the return from Peninsula Hot Springs, it is fair to say their were some very relaxed and chilled hoomans and it was time to kick back until dinner. Saturday evening started with Kathy from Yabby Lake and great wine and dog story telling – while Glen created the 4 course dinner.
A leisurely Sunday started with a walk, morning tea and some ball chasing. Gemimah was in full swing for the camera – putting on her most gorgeous cuddle me look. Lunch at McClelland Gallery is always a delight as we hear about which sculptures everyone enjoyed on their walk.
Congratulations Jess on winning the Buster Sparkling Shiraz, with the amazing photo of Gemimah at Nazaary Estate. The challenge was on to send our hash tag (#pawfect) viral with spectacular photos.
