28 May 2017 Yarra Valley Doggy Winery Tour

Despite the forecast being a bit damp, it still a magnificent day and it seemed nothing could dampen the spirits of these pooches. Diesel welcomed a great group of first timers – saying Woof to Neko, Teddy, Tilly, Manny and Dharma. Oh boy did these guys love their window seats.

It was a crisp start with the morning sun shining on us as the pooches all met on Port Melbourne beach. The pooches decide to divide themselves into 2 squads 1. the active one – Diesel, Manny and Dharma0 and the chilled out cuties (Neko, Teddy and Tilly). Squad 1 were keen to chase the ball and a one point Manny’s Mum had to roll up here jeans and go for walk in the water to retrieve the ball. Squad 2 were happy to run around together on the sand.

Everyone settled on Bella – with pooches on their comfy blankets ready for the journey to Lilydale Lake. The sun stayed out for the walk and off leash playtime as some exhausted dogs headed back for a quick nap before the next stop.

The first wine tasting of the day was at Warramunda Estate and sadly the rain joined the party – Susie was very kind to have the wine tasting outside under the shelter of the umbrellas. We just needed a bit more of an imagination to soak up the Parisian style cafe atmosphere.

Next stop – entree from Tramontos and wine tasting from Badgers Brook. Manny and Tilly were kick starting their romance under the table, they couldn’t take their eyes off each other. It was a case of when Teddy (Badgers Brook) met Teddy (Ian and Tricia) at one point. With some fabulous local food and wine in the hoomans, it was off to next stop – Soumah for, wait for it – yes you guessed it, local food and wine!!!

A very chatty Diesel lead the pack for the picturesque walk up to Soumah  “look Aunty Sharon sheep, did you hear me!”. Sharon settled the pooches into their movie and massage. Teddy and Tilly were keen to prop themselves up at the window watching the action outside. Neko was almost instantly asleep and really enjoyed the massage. Manny watched the movie and love his treats. Dharma curled up on the seat and enjoyed her ears being massaged.  Mean while inside at Soumah, Bela was in fine form entertaining the group with his tasting notes, some a little more creative than others.

The final stop was the tasty Yarra Farm Fresh but the rain was now getting quite heavy, so best the pooches stay warm and dry on Bella while their fur-parents enjoyed the local produce on offer from Sue.

Congratulations Dharma on winning the photo of the day.
