Introduction

Welcome to our unique Dog Wellness Service - you are off on a scientifically proven food and behaviour journey for your dog. As parents of our beloved fur-kids, we know that they deserve the best however it is often difficult to wade through the ever conflicting information. With our expert knowledge of Canine Nutrition and Behaviour, we have unravelled the myths, issues and conflicting information to provide you with practical skills and knowledge to create a Happy, Healthy and Safe life for your dog.

Nutrition and Behaviour Relationship

Just as we humans can get grumpy when our diet is inadequate, so too can dogs. So before deciding your dog has behavioural challenges, take a look at whether their diet is lacking in essential vitamins and minerals. There are so many reasons why processed dog food does not provide adequate nutrition for dogs, the mere fact it is processed should be an alarm bell. Taking a look at nutrition first can assist with long term prevention of health issues so they can lead their most adventurous life. Our expert knowledge and qualifications will provide you with the confidence of evidence based proven information to make a real difference to your dog's overall health.

Understanding how many kilojoules your dog requires daily means your focused on their overall diet and not basing their intake on grams of a particular food. It is not enough to just say feed a dog xxx grams of food based on their weight alone. How do you know what is in that food? How do you know if the food is nutritionally balanced? How can you be confident it will provide the essential nutrients your dog requires? Just as with humans, we do not eat grams of food, we hopefully eat well balanced kilojoule based meals that are designed with our activity, age and life stage in mind. So why shouldn't our beloved dogs get the same.

Did you know that kibble - a highly processed dry 'food' traditionally given to dogs, essentially turns into sugar in your dog's blood stream? This is due to the huge volume of carbohydrates in the product. Kibble is made using an extrusion process, putting the original ingredients through extremely high heat. No wonder it is void of nutrients. Don't take my word for it, Dr Ian Billinghurst - an Australian Veterinarian is a world leading expert in raw food diets.
