22 May 2016 Yarra Valley Doggy Winery Tour

An unseasonably warm and sunny day awaited us at the Yarra Valley on Sunday. The beautiful King Charles Cavaliers, Morgan and Flynn and joined us for their second tour and seasoned Gourmet Pawprints resident Lucy visited us again. With Lenny, Ruby, Zac, Chino and Oscar enjoying the day with their families for the first time.

Our day started off at Port Melbourne where pooches and hoomans said their hello’s on the beach. Whippet’s Zac and Chino quickly proved they were our fasted pooches. Whereas Lenny wished he could join in on the fun and have a run, but after a recent surgery his parents thought it best he stay on the lead.

The group then boarded Bella the Bus headed for our first stop Lilydale Lake. Despite a spot of wind the pooches thoroughly enjoyed some off lead time.

Our next stop on the tour was St Huberts, one of the oldest vineyards in Australia. While hoomans indulged in a wine tasting, pooches were cared for by our expert host and carer, Jo. The pooches learned her treat of choice is cheese, and were scrambling for a taste. At one point, Jo left her bag of cheese on the table unattended. Keen pooch Oscar sniffed it out, jumping up on the table and getting his nose stuck in the bag! Jo kept her cheese close in her pocket after that.

We then moved on to our gourmet lunch venue Rochfords. Roxy our local dog carer joined Jo, to play with the pooches while hoomans enjoyed their second wine tasting of the day. Back to the table for lunch, where many of the pooches were quite talkative, adding some colourful ambiance to the meal.

Back on the bus for the final winery of the day Soumah. Tired pooches were kept close to their parents under the table. As hoomans were guided through some new release wines and classics produced by the vineyard. A relaxed ending to a glorious day in the Yarra Valley.

Congratulations to Helen, as well as Lenny and Ruby, for winning the Facebook competition of a gorgeous Ella+Friends Woof! coffee table book! We hope you enjoy it.

Thank you to all our guests for making another tour so magical. We hope to see you again soon.
