The 15 June saw a fabulous Sunday morning begin in Port Melbourne for the Mornington Peninsula Doggy Winery Tour. All but two of our furry friends joined for the ‘sniff and social’ walk to pick up morning tea. Bobby and Bindy were still tucked up in bed getting that extra hour of sleep before meeting us at Willow Creek Winery. It is always an option to meet us at our first stop if you live locally or maybe staying in the area for the weekend.
Ian and Peter from Willow Creek had obviously spent their evening praying to weather gods because it was a glorious, if not a bit fresh, start to our wine tasting for the day. Thanks to Cathy for putting some extra tasting goodies out for us to try, loved the Big Cow Pear Relish.
It was great to see all the pooches roaming around on the lawn while the 2-legged socialisation stepped into gear. Diesel was super excited to welcome back Daisy, Alfie, Millie and Toby. He also made sure that Marli and Axl Rose knew he was co-hosting for the day and they needed to follow his lead.
Flinders Beach wore out Charlie J, Charlie P, Hugo and Penny, as it is tough going for little legs to run through the seaweed.
Red Hill Epicurean sure did put on a show for our first lunch visit with gourmet doggy pizza bread bones and warm puppy chinos, it was a wonderful welcome for all of our dogs. Winston was a quiet tired Whippet but happy to be close to the action with Marli and Axl. While Benson and Jas took centre place on the almost lawn area in front of under cover outdoor dining area.
Lunch was an array of colours and smells with award winning wood fired pizzas, salami, bread, olive oil, homemade pasta and salads to share. Robyne did her usual thing of making the pups comfortable and in an ‘almost effortless way’, except for her foot which landed in a water bowl, hysterical at the time but wet foot for the rest of the trip.
A short stroll down the horse trails in Red Hill landed us at Mock Red Hill for cider and cheese tasting.
Congratulations to Hugo for his great photo of Daisy and her aunt Courtney, we know you got some help from your Dad to take the picture. We hope you enjoy the South Gippsland Pinot Noir kindly donated by Vintage Blue.
